Woven in Time, Cherished Forever

“Your Choice, Our Promise.” We honor the centuries-old alchemy of pure mulberry silk, tested silver-gold zari, and the sacred rhythm of the weaver’s shuttle.

The Genesis

A Reverence for the Sacred Drape

Katha Bbeen began with a quiet conviction: that a true Indian saree is not seasonal fast fashion, but living art and an emotional heirloom. When a bride drapes a Katha Bbeen saree, she wraps herself in weeks of quiet dedication, ancestral poetry, and motifs that have graced royal courts since the Mughal and Chola eras.

By bypassing power-loom synthetics and industrial mass production, we work directly with master weaver cooperatives in Varanasi, Kanchipuram, Chanderi, and Paithan—empowering artisan families with fair dignity while bringing untarnished purity to your wardrobe.

Our Four Guarantees

01

Silk Mark Certification

Zero polyester, zero nylon fillers. Every silk saree is independently tested and authenticated by the Silk Mark Organization of India.

02

Tested Tarnish-Free Zari

We exclusively commission high-grade electroplated silver and gold zari threads that preserve their lustrous gleam for decades without blackening.

03

The Kadhwa Technique

Each floral bootie and hunting shikargah motif is individually hand-locked on the loom so the reverse side has no loose floating threads.

04

Direct Loom Guild

No middle-tier agents. Fair living wages and steady year-round commissions sustain our 5th-generation artisan families with pride.

Slow Handcraft

How An Heirloom Is Born

From raw cocoon silk to the final auspicious bridal fold, every drape requires between 14 to 60 days of uninterrupted concentration.

1
Reeling & Degumming

High-denier Mulberry yarn is purified in herbal river water baths and hand-twisted to produce strong, supple warp (Tana) strands.

2
The Naksha Card Code

Master draftsmen draw intricate jaals on graph parchment, hand-piercing punch cards that orchestrate the loom's jacquard system.

3
Loom Warp Setting

Over 10,000 warp strands are threaded by hand through reed eyelets in an exact sequence taking three full days before weaving begins.

4
Handloom Weave & Polishing

With shuttle flying across weft, the saree advances 2 to 4 inches per day, culminating in steam kalai finishing and silk mark sealing.

“When you buy a saree from Katha Bbeen, you don't merely own six yards of fabric; you preserve an Indian heritage that took five hundred years to perfect.”
